I also chose to use tonal pencil for the city of Esmeralda, as I felt the combination of fine liner and pencil would help to make the structure of the bridges and buildings more clear. I personally find it easier to create tone and shadow with pencil, so I was able to create the mood of certain thumbnails much better.
