COLOURING LESSON
In today's lesson we learned how to translate coloured still images into simple black and white concept art. We were only allowed to use a selection of monochrome colours as we had to focus specifically on the lightest and darkness elements in the frame. I chose stills from the 3D animated film 'The Incredibles', this made it harder to capture the lighting correctly as there was such a wide range of tone. However, I am pleased with the outcome as they do resembles the frames well.
Following this task, we had to produce a Master study of a particular landscape or portrait. Using the same technique, we then added colour to each tone of grey. By adding the colour, the drawing did start to appear like the image, but lacked some of the textures and minor details. I did include some cloud textures in the sky, and some mark making on to the trees. This task has allowed to me understand the basic form of a frame, and its lighting structure.
